Principal's Letter

June 19, 2020

Dear Shorecrest Families,

We have reached the finish line of this very challenging and unique school year. I thank you all for your steadfast support and your patience as we adjusted to an ever-evolving reality. It is our intention now to take a brief break, dust ourselves off, and then, starting planning for fall. Please know we will share out information with you as soon as we are able in regards to our high school schedule and structure for the coming school year. You can help us by providing us feedback and recommendations for next school year by completing the School ReOpening Survey found at https://www.shorelineschools.org/site/default.aspx?PageType=3&DomainID=4&ModuleInstanceID=26&ViewID=6446EE88-D30C-497E-9316-3F8874B3E108&RenderLoc=0&FlexDataID=27335&PageID=1.

For our graduates and our families of the Class of 2020, thank you — and congratulations! It was lovely to see our seniors one last time this week and very special to see every senior, with their family. We are looking forward to sharing out the final video along with information regarding the professional photos that were taken by our production company in the coming days. Look for an email from me, coming soon!

As we transition into summer, our teachers are signing off email and will be turning their attention to getting some rest, participating in professional development, and working in department or course alike teams to plan for the new school year. Our office and counseling team will be working throughout this week and again, in August. School administrators will be working through much of the summer and we can be reached best via email with any questions you may have.

If you or your student/family is in need of any support or outside resources this summer, please refer to our Community Resources page. https://www.shorelineschools.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=3480

In particular, the mental health needs of our students is always of great concern to us when our staff — teachers and counselors alike — are unavailable to respond. Please, if you have concern about a student refer to the resources on the Community Resources page. You can also submit a SafetyTip through our SafetyTip hotline (the megaphone icon in the top right hand corner of our website). The 24 Hour Crisis Line is also a very good resource and can help you support a student who is in crisis. The phone number for the 24 Hour Crisis Line is (866) 427-4747. To protect a student from imminent harm, please call 9-1-1.

Please know, and share, that Shorecrest will continue to provide meals for students throughout the summer from Wednesday, June 24 through Friday, August 14. Bagged meals will be provided from 11:30-12:30 pm daily. The only dates of closure are July 2-3 for the holiday observance.

Below are several links to video celebrations honoring our students, particularly our graduates. Enjoy, share, and save to view whenever you need a boost. The graduation video will be out soon and we will be sharing that as well — for everyone.

Take care, stay healthy, and hope to see you in the fall,

Lisa González, Principal
