Letter Writer isn't a Shorewood Teacher? Read this.

Please read carefully...

First, be sure that your desired letter writer 'qualifies' according to your colleges' guidelines. Some colleges want only teachers from core academic subjects.

If the teacher is a Shorecrest teacher, the steps will be largely the same as those outlined on this page, BUT you will have to notify Mrs. Stephens so that she can temporarily add the Shorecrest teacher to the Shorewood roster.

If you are using the Common Application and the letter writer does not have a Shoreline Schools email address, you have two options:

  1. Use the Recommenders function in the Common App. It is under each school's supplement under My Colleges. You CANNOT request Shorewood teachers using the Common App tool, only non-Shoreline people.
  2. Have Shorewood send the letter along with your transcript. Here are the steps:
    1. Ask the professor in person.
    2. Email both Mrs. Stephens and the professor at the same time so that we are connected.
    3. The professor will email the letter directly to Mrs. Stephens.
    4. She will upload the letter into Naviance as an optional transcript
    5. Mrs. Roma will send the letter along with your transcript and other school materials.
    6. You should detail somewhere in your application—the extra information section would be the best place—that admissions should look for the letter from Professor ________ which will be sent along with your transcript.
