Bob’s Garden is a student-operated garden club sponsored by Modest Family Solutions, a nonprofit organization

Summer Opportunity to earn Volunteer Hours and Learn Urban Gardening Techniques
Who:
5 to 6 high school students to work and manage local garden located at Calvin Presbyterian Church. Food will be grown, harvested, and distributed to local food-insecure families.
Students will learn basic cultivation practices, how to grow many garden favorites, and get to take home some of the produce.
- We meet Wednesdays 4-5pm May thru September.
- Commitment of 4-6 hours per month for each gardener.
- Come prepared to work in the garden with garden appropriate clothing. Gloves and knee pads provided.
- Friends are encouraged to sign up together.
- Garden is located at the Calvin Presbyterian Church on the corner of NW Richmond Beach Road and 3rd Avenue NW. Easy walking distance from Shorewood and very close to Einstein.
- Social Media Journalist – 1 Opening available each month. Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm
What is involved?
- Meet on Wednesday garden session. Write up a social media post with pictures and information on garden progress.
- Find recipes and share favorites. You may have to look up this information on your own time or during our garden session.
- Highlight group activities using social media: documenting what is being planted, harvested, and accomplished at the garden.
What’s in it for you? – You will earn volunteer hours, you will have the opportunity to help families in need gain access to affordable organic veggies, you will learn a valuable skill, and more.
