Kelsey May Selected as New Kellogg Assistant Principal
Kelsey May has been selected to serve as an assistant principal at Kellogg Middle School beginning in the 2023-24 school year, Superintendent Susana Reyes announced. She will succeed Mitch Entler, who has been an interim assistant principal for the current school year. Kelsey will be joining the Kellogg family from Chief Leschi School District in Puyallup, where she taught and has been the middle and high school assistant principal for the last two years.
Kelsey attended Central Washington University for her bachelors degree in Spanish Education and University of Washington - Tacoma for her administrative certification. She began her teaching career as a Spanish teacher with Chief Leschi Schools and then moved to the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, where Kelsey taught health and physical education. After returning to Washington, Kelsey worked as a migrant graduation specialist for Ferndale High School and a Spanish teacher for Muckleshoot Tribal School, before entering school administration.
Kelsey is Mexican-American and an enrolled Tlingit member who grew up on the Lummi Reservation. She often attends cultural activities such as pow wows, canoe races, and canoe journeys and looks forward to bringing her cultural perspective to the Shoreline Schools community.
“Kelsey brings a remarkable breadth of experience to Kellogg, including a commitment to strong relationships with students and staff and past implementation of social-emotional supports for students,” says Superintendent Reyes. “We are excited to welcome Kelsey to the Shoreline Schools community.”
