Text Messaging Being Added to Notification Options
Our school district is adding text messaging functionality to our School Messenger mass notification system. This is the same system we use to send automated phone calls and emails. Adding text messaging will allow us to share information with you through text messages to your cell phone.
Text messaging will not replace the use of phone calls or emails, but will supplement them in appropriate situations. This could range from simple reminders for school events to updates about emergency situations.
As part of this process, families will need to opt-in to give us permission to send text messages to their cell phones. All cell phone numbers in our student/family database will be sent an opt-in invitation text message on Wednesday, November 28.
The text message will come from 67587 and read “Shoreline School District 412 messages. Reply Y to confirm, HELP 4 info. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. schoolmessenger.com/tm”
If you would like to receive text messages from our schools or school district, you must reply “Y” or “Yes” to that message.
You can also opt-in anytime by texting “Y” or “Yes” to 67587. Cell phone numbers that opt-in prior to November 27 will not be sent the automated opt-in invitation text on November 28.
Please note that only cell phone numbers connected to student/family accounts will be able to receive text messages from our schools or school district. If you are unsure if your cell phone number is included in your child’s registration contact information, please contact your school's registrar.
If a recipient’s cell phone number is changed, or a new number is added, in our student information system database, the new number will automatically be sent an opt-in message.
You can opt-out of receiving text messages anytime by texting “Stop” to 67587 or by visiting schoolmessenger.com/tm.
