Former Shorewood Pitcher Wins MLB's Cy Young Award

Former Shorewood High School star student-athlete and current Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell was awarded the coveted Cy Young Award by Major League Baseball and the Baseball Writers' Association of America on November 14. The award is presented annually to the best pitcher in the American and National Leagues. Snell was recognized as the American League's best pitcher of the 2018 season.
Snell, who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays right out of high school in 2011, had a record of 21-5 with an ERA of 1.89 in the 2018 season.
