What are the Initial Credit courses, and how will they work in Summer School?

  • Intro to Art: This course meets every day (M-F) on the SC campus in our Art Department.

  • It is priced at $275 because of the daily relationship and instruction with a Shoreline teacher and the supplies used for the course. Students receive a letter grade and .5 credit on their high school transcript.

  • Students can choose either AM or PM sessions; it is offered both times of day.

  • This course is really great for students who may have a hard time fitting fine arts in their schedule, love art and want to take higher level courses in art, want studio time to prep for AP Art, or are in-coming 9th graders who are interested in getting a high school course completed before they even start at SC or SW!

  • Personal Fitness: This course uses a combination of reading/activities in Canvas, fitness logs, and in-person training/instruction 2x/week for 90 minutes to earn a letter grade and .5 credit on their high school transcript.

  • It is priced the same as the SVL PE course, which is 100% on-line.

  • Students can choose either AM or PM sessions; it is offered both times of day. Students will come in to work with the teacher at least 2x/week and will complete work on Canvas 2-3x/week.
  • Students are expected to spend 60 hours on this class, and should budget an average of 1 hour for daily learning content, 1 hour of daily exercise, and 1 hour of analysis of exercise as it relates to content per day – either in class on or on-line.

  • This course is really great for students who may have a hard time fitting PE in their schedule, are involved in a summer sport and work out regularly, enjoy the mix of indoor & outdoor fitness experiences in the summer, or are in-coming 9th graders who are interested in getting a high school course completed before they even start at SC or SW!
