Highly Capable Testing

Registration for Highly Capable Testing is now Open!

Are you interested in having your grade 1-6 student assessed for highly capable services for next year? Shoreline is offering testing for HiCap eligibility in January 2020 for any student not previously screened or tested during the 2019-2020 school year. Please note: All Shoreline Kindergarten and 2nd grade students are screened for highly capable program eligibility in the fall. These students DO NOT need to register for testing.  Registration will close on December 20, 2019 at 4pm. No late registrations will be accepted.

For more information or to register on-line, please visit You may also contact the HiCap program office at 206-393-4771.

November Winter Coat Drive

Our winter coat drive still on!  As the weather turns colder THE WORKS always has an increased demand for Winter Coats. We are still collecting any NEW and GENTLY USED coats at the school throughout the month of November. Please consider donating any coats your children have outgrown or no longer use. Thank you in advance for your continued generosity.  The collection bin is in the Syre entryway.

Boxes, Boxes, Boxes, Please!

Don't throw away those Amazon boxes!  We desperately need boxes to store the food drive donations!  Please help us out by collecting and bringing in boxes, file box size or larger.  OK to bring them in flattened if it's easier and we can tape them back up.  Thank you.

PTA Holiday Food and Teen Gift Drive

It's time for our annual Holiday Food and Teen Gift Drive! The drive will take place December (2nd - 13th).  The Shoreline PTA provides baskets of food to over 650 families within the district and every school is assigned a different item to collect. Syre's focus this year is: FLOUR. If you are able to donate we ask that the bags be the regular size (5 lbs.) and not the Costco sized.   More information will be coming soon with ways you can sign up to help, but it's never too early to start gathering items when you are at the store.

Here is the link to sign up for helping during the drive or gift card donations.

Thanks Wildcats! It's always so wonderful to see how this community comes together to support those in need at this time of year.

Your PTA Community Service Team,  Julia, Sarah, Carolina

Film Screening on "Twice Exceptional Students"

On behalf of the Shoreline Hi Cap Parent Association and Shoreline Special Needs PTSA and by a generous grant from the Lake Forest Park Rotary, we would like to invite you to an upcoming movie screening which is an inspirational documentary about a school environment that embraces neurodiversity.

Date: Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Time:  7:00-9:00 pm

Location: Shoreline Conference Center, Shoreline Room

18560 1st Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155

Twice exceptional students (or “2e”) have “a mix of high abilities and special needs – differences such as learning disabilities, attention deficits, and behavioral difficulties” such as autism, Asperger’s, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. 1 in 5 students are neuro-diverse or differently wired and many struggle to learn in a traditional classroom setting. This might describe your child or students that are learning alongside your student.

Following the 77-minute movie (with Spanish subtitles), there will be a moderated discussion with the audience. Translators will be available upon request. A summary of this screening and community question/comments will be presented at a future Shoreline School Board meeting.

Please RSVP via to receive a comprehensive viewer’s guide and request translation services before the screening. This is a free event and all families are welcome but no childcare is provided.

We hope to see you there!
