Join us for our traditional Festival of Cultures with our NEW addition this year- a Cultural Art Walk on Wednesday, November 20th at 6:30pm – 9:30pm.

Cultural booths will be in the cafe with students and families sharing about their heritage. Artwork will be on display throughout our building with each grade or classroom celebrating an artist or culture from around the world. Have traditional clothing from your heritage? Be sure to wear it on this evening of celebration.

Would you be willing to share food, art, games etc.  from your family culture or heritage? Contact Kiersten Holm at to sign up!

Families can set up their table at 6:00pm to share their culture (clothing, art, pictures, games, food, etc..) or simply come to see the childrens’ art work and learn more about amazing our community.

Mark your calendars! It's almost time for our annual Holiday Food and Teen Gift Drive. The Shoreline PTA provides baskets of food to over 650 families within the district and every school is assigned a different item to collect. Syre's focus this year is: FLOUR. If you are able to donate flour we ask that the bags be the regular size (4 lbs.) and not the Costco sized.  The drive will take place during the first two weeks of December (2nd - 13th). More information will be coming soon with ways you can sign up to help, but it's never too early to start gathering items when you are at the store (5lb bags of Flour would be perfect.) . Thanks Wildcats! It's always so wonderful to see how this community comes together to support those in need at this time of year.

Every Friday our 5th and 6th graders are selling popcorn for 75 cents at second recess.  Help them fund scholarships for Outdoor Camp and let you kids enjoy a little Friday treat!

The holidays are around the corner, which makes it the perfect time to purchase a fun homemade craft from one of our crafting 5th or 6th graders! Student crafters will be selling their crafts the week of Dec 16-20 to help raise funds for camp scholarships. Crafts can be purchased for $1-$4 each before school and during lunch recess. Sign ups will go out soon for adult volunteer shifts, and student volunteers shifts will be organized at school. Thanks for supporting your 5th and 6th grade campers!

Time to stock up Brown Bear car wash for holiday season.   Syre 5th & 6th graders are selling Brown Bear "Beary Clean" car wash tickets. 80% of the funds raised go towards the trip to Camp Orkila. TIckets are $9 each and NEVER EXPIRE.  Tickets are available for purchase at the Main Office. Questions? There is an exciting Camp Orkila fundraiser starting Nov. 1. Syre will be partnering with local company Northwest Fundraising, selling gift wrap and other holiday/gift items. Catalogs will be distributed to teachers, to be handed out to students on Friday. Families will have 2 weeks to place orders, either online, or through the Syre office. The Syre Orkila camp fund will get 50% of the gift wrap sales, and 40% of other gift items. We hope this will be a huge boost to the camp funds, as we work to send the 5th and 6th graders to camp in the Spring!

Many thanks to the following students for generously donating books to the Syre Library:

“Child Find” refers to the process of locating, identifying, and evaluating children with disabilities to ensure that they receive services to which they are entitled. The Child Find team will listen to your concerns and provide a free developmental screening and/or special education evaluation to children and youth, ages birth to 21 living in the Shoreline School District who may have a disability to determine if they are eligible for special education services. This screening does not indicate readiness for kindergarten. Please call 206.393.4350 if you have concerns about your 3-5 year old child’s development in one or more of the following areas: speech & language, vision & hearing, motor skills, cognitive abilities, social/emotional skills, adaptive/self-help skills. If your child is under the age of three, contact Wonderland Developmental Center at 206.364.3777 for assistance. If your child is over the age of six contact the district’s Special Education Office at 206.393.4239 for assistance.

“Feed” it to the Candy Monster in the office!  We will have our big red Candy Monster set up in the office for the next two weeks to collect extra candy.  We will donate it to Mary’s Place shelter for homeless families.

If a school bus is running late the Shoreline transportation department posts an alert on the Transportation Home page at .  This is the best place to get accurate and up to date information.  Late busses are not usually posted on the Shoreline Schools homepage.

Syre Elementary PTA and Dandylyon Drama are thrilled to bring Dandylyon Drama’s Bad Apples - based on Grimm’s Snow White - to the stage!
