Calling all Seniors! We want YOU to sign up for a senior experience interview over Zoom or socially-distanced in person. Think of it as an archive, documenting the lives of the class of '21 amidst a global pandemic. We are living in a historical time, so we encourage you to share your experience with the SC community. Sign up from the @HyphyHighlanders bio on Instagram, or scan this QR code.

Hey Scots! We are almost at the end of the first half of the year. Time to switch classes! This means that Shorecrest will be hosting learning material return days from the current term on January 25-27. In order to prepare for classes for the second half of the year, we need to get your materials back for the next group of students. Please mark your calendars and do everything possible to participate as needed.

    • DATES: January 25, 26, and 27
    • TIME: 7:30 am - 5:30 pm - Book carts will be set up to place your items on anytime between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:30 pm on all three dates.
    • LOCATION: Under the roof/covering of the main entrance of Shorecrest. (Please note this is a different location than Book Distribution.)
    • NOTES:
      • There will be SPRING PACKETS for you to pick up during drop off that will help you prepare for the launch of Terms 3 and 4.
      • We will be using CDC recommended protocols for sanitizing returned materials before re-distributing items.
      • Please wear a mask when dropping off materials.

Now - more than ever - seniors are considering OFFICIAL Gap Year options for their post-Shorecrest plans. Some Gap Year programs are local; others are half-way around the world. And it's important to know that some Gap Year programs can pay you and others want you to pay THEM. You can learn more about a variety of these by signing up for the virtual Pacific Northwest Gap Year Fair. It's Thursday, February 18 on EventBrite - but you will want to sign up for free ASAP. Details can be found in your Canvas announcements. Act now to reserve your spot. If you have questions, reach out to Ms. Monson in the College & Career Center.

We had an Athletics Update in Highlander Home on Wednesday. If you missed it, here is a video link to watch it.

On Friday, we revealed our annual All School Art Project, brought to you by Ms. King and the SC Art Club. We folded origami cranes and fishes - the significance of which is success and perseverance respectively. Please bring your origami in a plastic bag to the materials drop off next week. We will have special collection bins for these. The origami will ultimately be strung and hung up in our school lobby as an art installation and will greet us when we return to our school building.

It’s time to start thinking about filling ASB positions for next year. The first phase is to hold ASB Core elections (President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer). Any student interested in running for one of these positions is asked to please join us at the required informational meeting at lunch on February 4. Details shared closer to the date, just planting the seed now! No experience required.

    Food Services Updates

    • Thank you for supporting the food and nutrition department by ordering weekly meal boxes. Please remember to place pre-orders so we can ensure to have enough food prepared each week.
    • Meals for students will remain free for the remainder of the school year. If you think you qualify for free or reduced meals, please complete and submit an application as there are other benefits that might be available to you.
    • Our District will have meal distribution during Mid-Winter Break on Wednesday, February 17! The special menu for the non-school week will include a whole cheese pizza, a six-pack of whole grain bagels, fresh fruit and veggies, and milk. The order process will be just like ordering a regular meal box. Be sure to place your order between February 8 and February 10. To accommodate reduced staffing, the Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center will not be a pick-up site for this special week.
