  • Summer Math Boosters

The Summer Math Boosters Website is now available for Highly Capable Math students.

Students new to Highly Capable math will be studying mathematics at a grade level above for grades 2+ in the Fall. The summer math booster activities will help your student learn key topics from that "skipped" year of math content.

Newly identified students who will be entering grade 1 will not need to access any math boosters, but may enjoy some of the activities in the “Math Games & More” tab.

We are also making this site available to all families in case you feel that your student would benefit from additional math learning over the summer due to school closures this year.

  • Highly Capable Magnet Program Placement Community Forum follow-up

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our virtual forum last night to gather feedback regarding possible changes to the placement of the Highly Capable Magnet Program. The Zoom conference was the first time that those of us presenting did so using that tool and I appreciated the patience of participants as we navigated through the presentation. I also appreciate the questions, comments and discussion that came in through Zoom chat room.

If you did not have a chance to attend the forum or would like to see it again, you can view it here

If you would like to submit additional feedback, you can use this online form to provide that feedback or you can use the attached form and drop it off in the Superintendent’s Office at the Shoreline Center, 18560 1st Ave. NE.  Any feedback returned to us by noon on Thursday, March 12 will be compiled and sent to the Board on Friday, March 13.

Also attached is the content of the chat from last night in PDF format.  This, along with the recording of the forum last night, will also be provided to the Board.

Our next regular board meeting is March 16 and at this time the Board is still slated to have highly capable program changes as an action item on the agenda. They will have the opportunity to take action at that time. Board meeting materials will be posted on the evening of Friday, March 13.

  • HiCap Magnet Program Transportation

Specific information regarding transportation for students who will attend the Magnet HiCap Program will be communicated in the middle to late August, from the Transportation Department. Students who attend the magnet program at either Ridgecrest or Meridian Park will be transported to and from their neighborhood school and the magnet school.

Important: Students need to be able to walk or have transportation to and from their home (or care provider) to their neighborhood school. Students cannot take the regular neighborhood buses as the bus schedules do not line up.
