We are the K-8 alternative choice school in the Shoreline School District. We cherish the opportunity to share information with you about our school and hope that you’ll take time to read and reflect about what you are reading. It is our hope that this site will give you a true sense of the great things that are happening at Cascade K-8.

We believe that students need opportunities to be passionate, debate, develop a sense of self-control, have real-world challenges, and share responsibility for each other. Our mission is to provide a collaborative learning community to ensure students achieve academic success, develop a fundamental joy of learning, and become responsible citizens.

Cascade K-8 is an inspiring learning community comprised of students, staff, and families who are dedicated to seeing our mission become a reality for each and every student. Our students are the best – they are readers, writers, poets, artists, athletes, scientists, mathematicians, musicians, explorers, learners and friends. Our staff work very hard to build relationships with students and families while striving to create a dynamic learning environment for all learners through meaningful, engaging inquiry lessons that integrate learning through thematic units. Our families, staff and community members make Cascade K-8 a unique place.

Our Journey Middle School Program (grades 6-8) focuses on Science Technology Arts Engineering Mathematics (STEAM). The STEAM Program helps our 6th – 8th grade students gain the skills required to succeed in today’s challenging world. Our DesignMaker Course includes the ability to think critically, solve complex problems, and drive advancements in science, math, arts and technology through hands-on projects with practical applications. We prepare students for success in the 21st century by facilitating high-level learning. Designing solutions to real problems and testing them will create excitement about learning, particularly in crucial STEM-related fields.
