Shorecrest Girl's Basketball: Varsity, JV, and Freshmen
UPDATE: All Shorecrest sports are allowed to start optional workouts on February 1st. Girl's basketball is not currently offering any pre-season training, but this site will be updated, and past players notified, when we have more information on our Winter and Spring plans.
As of now, girl's basketball season is tentatively scheduled to start on May 3rd. Things are still fluid, and this site will be updated as things evolve or solidify.
The Shorecrest High School girl's basketball program is dedicated to producing high school graduates who understand and value teamwork, work hard to earn what they achieve, have strong fundamental skills and high basketball IQ, behave responsibly, and are accountable for their actions. We aim to provide memorable experiences and prepare every season with the goal of competing annually in the Washington State Tournament.
Our varsity program begins each year focused on fundamentals and evolves, as the year goes on, to more focus on game preparation and making it to the State Tournament.
Our JV and C team focus primarily on fundamentals development and team chemistry, while fostering a culture of hard work, grit, and winning games.
As the top level of the Shorecrest girl's basketball program, our Varsity, JV, and C team girls represent our school as students and athletes. They serve as leaders to the upcoming middle school and grade school girls who will join them in the Shorecrest program. We take opportunities throughout the season to invite the younger kids in to meet and learn from the high school girls, and the high school girls, in turn, can often be seen supporting the middle school and feeder teams.
During the season, you will see the younger, Shorecrest-bound girls cheering on the varsity team from right behind the bench. This is the Shorecrest basketball community culture we aspire to be.
We are led by fourth-year coach, Carlos Humphrey, who is supported by Sabrina Angle, and Jon Friesch. Together, they have created a program with a cummulative GPA of 3.6 and a winning record of 57-17 (.770).
Coach Carlos (17 years of training all levels, from grade school to NBA/WNBA players) and his coaching team of Sabrina Angle and Jon Friesch, build their success on creating better educated athletes and stronger teams. Fundamentally sound players with high basketball IQs are able to make good decisions in any game situations. Offseaons for our girls are dedicated to fundamentals training to prepare them for their high school team.
We offer youth camps every Summer where 100s of boys and girls come to learn fundamentals (shooting, passing, dribbling, and defense), raise their basketball IQ, meet other kids from neighboring skills, and discuss how to be a good teammate and play team basketball.
