    2017 Fall sports information:

    Football: Coach Brandon Torrey brandon.torrey@shorelineschools.org

     Football will start on Wednesday, August 16th with fitness skills testing from 10:30am-12:00 (cleats, athletic shoes, shorts, t-shirt) on the SW football field. We will then have a 2nd practice on the 16th from 3:30-5pm (helmets, shorts, practice jersey, and cleats). Practices will be at Shorewood High School.

     First Day Aug. 21 Meeting Shoreline Center 2:30-3:30pm, Mt Rainier Room

    Swimming at Shoreline Pool 3:45-5:05pm, divers 6:25-7:45pm

    Water times the same as above for first two weeks.

    Week 3 on: Swim and Dive 4:20-6:00pm

     First day is Monday, August 21st 5:30 – 7:00 at SW soccer/football field for the first two weeks except for Friday, September 1st the practice will be at Shorewood but the time has changed to 9:00 am to 10:30 am.

    Times : GROUP #1 2pm to 4pm Returning JV and New Players:

                GROUP #2 4pm to 5:30pm

    RETURNING VARSITY AND SOME PLAYERS FROM THE FIRST GROUP  

    Varsity team will be 16 – 18 players. Varsity practices will be at NEW Shorewood all season.

    JUNIOR VARSITY TEAM: Cuts may be made to keep the team size to between 16 to 18 on the team. Practices at Shoreview Park courts will start there during first week of tryouts on the fourth day of tryouts. First two days of JV practice at Shorewood Courts.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    Rain practices will be indoors in small Gym or Fitness room

    at SW with different time for both groups. Practice time will be from 3pm to 4pm for JV. 4 to 5pm for Varsity indoor practice. Saturday practice may be held in the first two weeks from 11am to 12:30pm.

    Wear gym clothes and warm ups/ sweats if weather is cold.

    Bring your own tennis racket. Bring your own water bottle.

    Tennis shoes or court shoes preferred. No running shoes on the courts.

    Ten practices required before competing versus other teams.

    During regular school days

    Varsity practices @ New SW courts at 3pm

    JV practices @ Shoreview Park starting 8 / 24 / 17 at 3pm

    Freshman players or players without licenses must arrange your own ride there and to picked up there at the end of practice or a ride home when practicing at Shoreview Park. JV will have some practices scheduled for Shorewood Courts.

    In the fall of 2017 we will be doing all our strides and core/hip work (weather permitting) on the Shorewood fields.  1st practice will be August 21st at 3:15 pm, we'll meet on the softball field.  Before school starts, practices will be at 3:15 pm.  Once school starts, we'll start practice at 3 pm.  Please wear running attire, proper running shoes, and a water bottle.  Please get proper running shoes.  Super Jock and Jill or Road Runner Sports at Greenlake can help you or Run 26 in Mill Creek.

    In order to compete in the 1st meet, athletes need to turn in all paperwork, pay your athletic and ASB fee, and attend 10 practices.

    Dates to set aside: 

    Labor day weekend - Annual Team Retreat to Camp Casey (Fri. Sept. 1st - Sun. Sept. 3rd).  We encourage everybody to come to this retreat, it will cost each athlete $100.  If money is an issue, please come see the coaches, athletic director, or your counselor.

    Trip to Portland the weekend of Friday September 29 - 30.  This will only be around 54 athletes.  This trip will cost athletes $125.  If money is an issue, please come see the coaches, athletic director, or your counselor.

    We will also have a few Saturday meets throughout the season.  The Saturdays include Sept. 9th, Sept. 16th, Sept. 30th, Oct. 7th, and Oct. 21st.  Varsity post season meets include:  Oct. 28th & Nov. 4th.

     

    GENERAL FALL SPORTS INFORMATION     Athletic packet forms: Please turn in forms by Friday, June 16 or sooner if possible especially for new physicals to be checked. If your physical is current at least through August you can turn in your forms before the SW Business Office closes on June 28th or when it reopens starting August 14th. NO GUARANTEES that the new sports physicals will be cleared in time for practice, if the forms are turned in close to the first day of practice, August 16th (Football) or August 21st (all other fall sports)

    In order to participate in practices, athletes need to turn in all paperwork to the SW Business Office.  Packets available at SW Business Office or online.

    When Should Students Register? NCAA

    Students may register at any time, but we recommend during their sophomore year. The registration website is www.eligibilitycenter.org. The NCAA Eligibility Center will evaluate a student’s academic credentials once this information has been received, and the student has had his/her status requested by an NCAA member institution:

     Completed online registration;

     Fee payment;

     SAT and/or ACT test score on file from the respective testing agency; and

     Transcript(s) from all schools or programs attended.

    Be sure to let your School Counselor know that you are a college-bound athlete so that we can help you with your planning and NCAA eligibility!

     

    NCAAARE YOU PLANNING TO PLAY COLLEGIATE SPORTS?

    Did you know that you have to register with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)?

    Register at www.eligibilitycenter.org/ and make sure you are taking the correct core courses.

    TALK TO YOUR COUNSELOR TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE TAKING THE REQUIRED CORE COURSES.
