Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students)
WATCH D.O.G.S. is an innovative program beign used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model.
The program itself is simple: dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, family friends, etc. are asked to take one morning during the school year, and spend it at Echo Lake. They check in at the office in the morning, and receive their WatchDOGS badge so students and staff can easily recognize them, receive a brief orientation and schedule, and then we put them to work. Duties include welcoming students as they arrive, sitting with/mentoring students in class, eating with children at lunch, and connecting with students at recess.
To sign up please follow these directions:
1. Click on the link to our WatchDOGS Calendar
2. Choose a date that is more than two weeks away. ** Our goal is to make sure that teachers have plenty of notice about their Watch DOG volunteer.
3. Once you found an open date, please email andrew.lohman@shorelineschoools.org
Before you volunteer:
You must have a WA State Volunteer application sent in before you volunteer. This is a requirement of all of our volunteers.
