Jennifer Eklund - Dean of Students

Hello Panther Families,

I am Jennifer Eklund, the dean of students at Parkwood. I have been part of the Shoreline District family for many, many years and have had the opportunity to work at Shoreline, Shorewood and Shorecrest High Schools, Einstein and Kellogg Middle Schools and for the past two and half years at Parkwood Elementary.  My husband and I have two adult sons, and he is a proud Shoreline District alum. I graduated from the University of Washington and earned my master's degree at Western Washington University.

My job as the dean of students involves:

  • Discipline: encouraging students to make good choices and when necessary, meeting with them to help correct their behavior.
  • Attendance: monitoring student attendance, as well as meeting and supporting families regarding district and state attendance guidelines and policies.
  • Emergency Planning: keeping students and staff safe by developing and implementing emergency plans and procedures.

A student’s elementary years are foundational to create positive academic and future career habits. Teaching and preparing children to be on time, think creatively, develop problem solving skills and positive relationships are essential. I look forward to working with your student.

Please feel free to contact me.

Annette Campbell - Counselor

Hello, my name is Annette Campbell and I have been working as an elementary school counselor at Parkwood for five years. Prior to working at the elementary level for 13 years, I was a high school counselor for three years.

Working as a school counselor, my most important  job is to support students  so they are able to succeed in school.  My role in collaborating with you is to look out for your child’s academic progress, social emotional development/well-being, and career and college readiness.

My comprehensive school counseling program includes, but is not limited to, individual counseling, small group counseling, co teaching classroom guidance lessons, and dealing with various situations that arise throughout the school day. I work with students to help build their inner emotional toolbox to be successful in school. As their school counselor, I want all of my students to know that I value them as individuals, empathize with their struggles, and will support them to reach their highest potential and to live empowered, successful and compassionate lives.

I know as grown-ups we too, need assistance in creating or adding to our grown-up toolbox to support our kids emotionally and academically.

Below are some websites I would like to share with you to assist in developing your toolbox. I know there are so many websites in our internet world, but these are a few of my favorites.

  1. Parent Toolkit: https://www.parenttoolkit.com/
  2. CAESL: https://casel.org/homes-and-communities/
  3. Understood: https://www.understood.org/en
  4. Sesame Street: https://sesamestreetincommunities.org/

Please connect with me at annette.campbell@shorelineschools.org or call me at 206-393-4157. I am currently working remotely, the best way to connect is through email.
