The Art Docent Program is supported by Meridian Park PTSA and powered by volunteers who provide visual art instruction in the classroom. Art docents teach art history, techniques, and encourage students to explore their creativity with project in various mediums.
This year Cheetah artists have been studying community through art. We started with self-portraits, then made collage projects inspired by artist Faith Ringgold. Click the links to see the presentations and make these projects along with your students! This spring we were planning to do some site-specific collaborative projects, including a 5th and 6th grade mural in the courtyard and a tile project for the Kindergarten wing.
COVID-19 may have put a damper on some of our big plans for this year, but it cannot stop our community from banding together and creating all the same.
Join us on the Meridian Park PTSA Facebook page each Friday at 2pm for a LIVE art lesson!
Missed a lesson? Don't use Facebook? No problem! Click the link below for an archive of all our virtual lessons and you can do them on your own time! Thank you all for your support of the Art Docent Program. We truly enjoy facilitating this enrichment program for your students and believe strongly that art matters - in the best of times AND the most difficult times.
All the best,
