Dear Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center Families,
We realize schools closing through the end of the school year, and the continued spread of the novel coronavirus has been stressful for our families and students. While at this time we will not be providing typical schooling during the District’s closure, we would like to offer optional resources for students to support their learning at home. We hope these resources will be helpful.
Edwin Pratt will engage with your family in the following ways:
- Weekly suggestions through ReadyRosie (Links to an external site.) on ways to support your child’s learning and emotional well-being at home
- Your child’s teacher will share activity ideas, songs, stories and more through Seesaw (Links to an external site.) several times a week
- Suggestions and visual supports to help your family maintain a routine - preschool children in particular thrive when they know what to expect
- If your child has an IEP, your child’s therapist(s) and/or special education teacher will be reaching out soon on ways that we can continue to support your child’s learning.
In this time of uncertainty, we recognize the anxiety that news and developments related to COVID-19 can cause in children. The following link is a great resource from the National Association of School Psychologists to use in having discussions with children: Talking to Children About COVID-19 (Coronavirus): A Parent Resource. We realize that there are many challenges this extended closure places on our students and families. Please know that we greatly appreciate our Shoreline community and hope that you all remain safe and healthy. We will continue to provide you with updates throughout the coming days and weeks. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any difficulty accessing ReadyRosie or Seesaw!
