• Preschool & Extended Care Current Closure FAQ

    Q - Will there be a refund or credit for preschool & extended care for  March 12-31?  

    A -  The fastest and most accurate way for our accounting office is to provide refunds (not credits) for all families after your account is prorated for the dates your child was scheduled to attend  March 12- 31.You will receive the refund via a check in the mail. 

    Echo Lake Extended Care site accounts will have one additional day added to their refund for the Echo Lake closure on March 9. 

    As of March 24th the Shoreline Center is closed in response to Governor Inslee's request for people to stay home and telecommute as much as possible.  A part of Shoreline Center operations, the staff members who issue checks and process mail are now under new limited schedules. This impacts the district's ability to process refund checks to meet our original April 3 timeline for refunds for canceled Early Learning and Extended Care services in March. We are now looking more realistically at April 10th as the refund timeline for those March days.  


    Q - I received an invoice for April, should I pay this?

    A -We are not expecting payments for April, and no automatic withdrawals will be taken.  Your total tuition will be based on the total of days that school was in session.


    Q - How can we continue to support staff during this time?

    A - Several families have graciously asked if they can continue to pay all or partial tuition to help support staff through this time. As a self support program, your tuition is our only revenue - we do not receive ongoing funds from the state. If your family is in a position to do so, we would welcome contributions in order to continue to provide wages and benefits to our staff members. We want to support and retain them and offer them quality professional development safely from their home like other school district employees. If you would like to pursue this option please email, elc.office@shorelineschools.org  so we can work out a plan for you with the cashier’s office.


    Q - We would like to withdraw from the program, what should we do?

    A- If  you elect to withdraw entirely from Extended Care or Early Learning programs at this time, please send an e-mail to elc.office@shorelineschools.org with your request. The two week withdrawal requirement will be waived, and March 11th will be counted as the last day of care. Withdrawal will mean not being able to enroll for next year as a returning student.


    Q - We completed a New Family Request for Care for preschool, when will we know the lottery results?

    A - Lottery results for preschool programs will be announced to families by next Friday (3/27) via email. 


    Q - When will we be able to register for Summer, 2020-2021 Preschool and/or 2020-2021 Extended Care?

    A - Our next priority will be making decisions and announcements about how to safely move forward with registration. We are currently not accepting any registrations.  Extended Care Lottery Results and the dates for registration for next year's Extended Care (both returning & new families) will be announced as soon as we have more information about the parameters for opening school in the fall. Summer 2020 program is cancelled.
