Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Celeste Dang
Welcome to Syre Elementary!
As the speech-language pathologist (SLP) at Syre, I work with children from kindergarten through 6th grade in the area of communication. These areas may include speech sound production, understanding presented information, verbal expression, fluency skills and voice disorders. I conduct informal speech screenings throughout the year based on referrals from teachers, staff or parents. When needed I consult with parents and teachers, complete evaluations and provide services to children with identified communication needs. These specialized services are considered special education (IEP) and are provided during the school day with careful consideration of the pull out times. My practice often includes creation of a speech home program so children can practice outside of the speech session to support generalization of the new skill.
If your child currently has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), we will meet as a team (e.g., district representative, classroom teacher, SLP, etc.) annually before the IEP due date to review student progress and new goals for the coming calendar year.
I have been a speech-language pathologist in Shoreline for more than thirty years and worked with children in preschool through high school. I have had the privilege of working with children with special needs and typically developing students. My experience at several schools in Shoreline affirms my belief that Shoreline educators strive to help every child learn in a positive and caring environment.
I am glad to be part of this wonderful school community because everyone is committed in supporting the whole child. Please feel free to contact me via email, phone or in person if you have any questions related to your child's communication skills. I will be Syre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays this school year.
