Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Linda Vassallo

Hello! I am the Syre Reading Club  teacher. (Reading Club is also known as the Learning Assistance Program or LAP.)   I work with small groups of students who need extra support in literacy skills such as pre-reading skills, early reading skills, reading fluency and comprehension.

After diagnosing students' reading difficulties, I work with Mrs Tipple, LAP paraeducator, to provide lessons and activities to address these difficulties.

Both Mrs. Tipple and I love teaching reading and working with students at many different grade levels.

This will be my 29th year of teaching! - and my 8th year here at Syre.  Over the years I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.  I have been a reading specialist for the past 25 years.

I went to college at Cornell University and earned my teaching certificate at Colorado College.  I received my Master's Degree in Reading Education from the University of Virginia.  I taught in Colorado, Virginia, and Connecticut before moving to Seattle in 2008.

I live in Seattle with my husband, Marc.  We have one son, Nick, who lives in New York.
