Ms. Barbara Dreier

WELCOME TO MS. DREIER'S WEBPAGE!

I have been teaching music in the Shoreline School District since December 1997, when I started as an elementary orchestra teacher at Parkwood school.  Since 1998 I have been a general music teacher at Parkwood, Ridgecrest, Sunset (now closed) and Highland Terrace Elementary.  I joined the Lake Forest Park staff in September 2016, and I am so happy to be here!

I have a B.Music degree in vocal performance with a minor in theater performance, and I have sung and acted professionally.  I am an AGMA member (American Guild of Musical Artists) and I sang with Seattle Opera once or twice a season for eleven years, from 1992 through 2003.  During my college years I taught music and drama at a Vermont state girls summer camp where I fell in love with teaching.  So, after I finished my performance degree I taught private voice and voice class for actors at the University of Idaho while I finished my teacher certification training.

In my free time, I love to play with my kitty, go bird watching, read, watch movies, take walks and ride my electric bicycle.  During our school breaks, I travel as much as I can.

My teaching philosophy is inspired by a motto from Zimbabwe:

"If you can talk, you can sing!  If you can walk, you can dance!"
