• K-5 Science Curriculum Materials Review and Adoption Committee*

    Our Charge:

    This committee will review, pilot, and recommend elementary Science materials that support the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and Computer Science. All decisions will support our vision for student learners as stated in the Shoreline Instructional Strategic Plan.

    • 3 Shoreline/Lake Forest Park Parents 

    *Applications and advertising for this committee began in January 2020, as it was originally slated to start in March 2020. Due to COVID school closures, the committee did not begin its work until the Fall of 2021. 

  • Fall 2021: September–December Committee meets 2x’s/month

    • Experience 3-Dimensional, phenomena–based teaching and learning
    • Understand shifts in science standards
    • Evaluate curriculum using Race, Equity, and Bias screeners from OSPI and Shoreline School District and 3–Dimensional Science teaching and learning screeners from NextGen Time 
    • Select final 2 curricula for teachers to pilot
  • Winter 2022: January–April Committee meets 4x's

    • Vendors present their programs and demo for pilot teachers (2 mtgs)
    • Teachers and students pilot curriculum
    • Committee and pilot teachers debrief feedback (2 mtgs)
  • Spring 2022: April–May Committee meets 2-3 times

    • Evaluate teacher and student feedback
    • Recommend final curriculum 
    • Present curriculum recommendation to DIMC and Shoreline School Board
