  • EXPLORING CLASS LINKS

Posted by Dede Ford on 3/26/2020

Yesterday the district gave you a link to the Home Learning Resource page and access to Class Link, which lets you enter apps found on student's computers. I'd like to note, however, that the apps listed are for all grade levels K-12 and apps may not be used by 4th grade. Additionally, some of these apps have specifically been uploaded for home learning, and were not on ClassLink prior to the shutdown. Rather than overwhelming yourself with trying to figure out what is used/is not, I thought I'd recommend a few places for you to start. Again, this is not a requirement.

    Newsela

    • Pink Folder titled, "Reading & Writing"
    • Ignore the lock, sometimes it means nothing
    • Students can search non-fiction articles of their choosing and complete the short quiz at the end
    • 4th grade reading level is 740-940L
    • Adjust the reading level by clicking on the button at the top of every article.
    • We don't use this app in class, whenever we do a Newsela article in class it's a paper copy in order to limit screen time.
    • SUGGESTION: Last week was Nowruz, and I did have a lesson planned. Here's an article that'll do the trick (820L) Nowruz celebrates the coming of spring and a new year

    GoogleApps

    • Anything you'll need: Google Classrom, documents, slideshow, this is the shortcut to access that directly.

    Bridges Home Learning

    • Pink folder titled, "Math"
    • Math at Home: Activity of the Day
    • Scroll down for printable practice pages and online games.
    • App added for home learning

    Important Hints:
    • Make sure everyone else is logged out of Google before they start. (#1)
    • Using Chrome is the best browser.
    • Email is their student number, beginning with their initials and then adding @k12.shorelineschools.org

  • 202 Resources

Posted by Dede Ford on 3/26/2020

I realize that as you receive information from myself, the school, and the district, there will be a lot of, "Where is that email?" Hopefully, keeping all of that information in one place will help you navigate your living room learning.
