Q - Is extended care guaranteed for all elementary Shoreline School District families?
A - We are not able to guarantee services to all families. The size of each site varies, and is determined by the history of demand, space and staff available.
Q - Why do I have to call in if my child is going to be absent from Extended Care?
A - The first priority for site staff after school is to make sure each child who is expected has safely arrived. When they know in advance who will be absent, staff can quickly check all the children in, and then let them start in on their favorite program activities.
Q - How should I notify Extended Care when my child is going to be absent?
A - Families can call 206-393-4350 or e-mail email@example.com . These contacts are staffed all day and so will be able to relay the message to the site.
Q - What food is provided at Extended Care?
A - A snack is provided every day, typically between 3 and 3:45 PM, depending on your child’s school dismissal time. You can find the menus here . If you will be picking up later and think your child will be hungry again, please feel free to send in an additional snack in their lunchbox.
Q - What days, beyond the regular school calendar, will services be offered by Extended Care for the 2019-2020?
A - The calendar for additional days that Extended Care will be offered on breaks and non student days can be found here These days require an additional registration and fee. The first break coming up will be Winter Break. Extended Care will offer a Winter Break Camp on December 26, 27 and 30, and January 2 and 3. Registration for Winter Break Camp will open November 8, 2019 and close when slots are full or on December 6, 2019.
Q - What about Conference Weeks?
A - Conference Weeks, which are on the Half Day release schedule, will run November 4-8 and March 2-6. Families enrolled in After Care have those additional hours included with their tuition.
Information about Conference Weeks for Families with Students Enrolled in Early Release Wednesday Only:
Wednesday, November 6 and Wednesday, March 4 were originally scheduled to be Early Release and are now scheduled to be Half Days during Conference Weeks. As a service to our families, although the difference between Early Release and Half Day Release is an additional 2 hours and 5 minutes, your student may attend over that time. However, as these longer days are more difficult to staff, and also to make sure our staff get breaks, we ask in return that you pick up as early as possible.
