    Preschool Registration

    Q - If I have a child who has attended preschool and will be entering kindergarten, do I have priority enrollment (as a returning family) for their younger sibling(s) for preschool for the 2019-2020 school year?

    A - Yes, if you are an in-district family. Please come in to complete enrollment between April 1st - April 10th.  

     

    Q - Do I have priority enrollment in preschool because my older child is in Extended Care?

    A - No, enrollment for our preschool programs and extended care programs are seperate.

     

    Q - I work for the district, but I live out of district, is my child considered an out of district student?

    A - No, your child is considered a New Student.  Please complete a "Request for Care" form to be included in our New Student lottery on April 10th.

     

    Q - What paperwork do I need to do if my child is a returning student?

    A -  An updated Emergency Information Card & and Updated Health Information Card

     

    Q - What paperwork do I need to do if my child is a new student, but a sibling of a current student?

    A - A new student enrollment packet including:

    • Emergency Information Card
    • District Enrollment Form
    • Address Verification
      • Address Verification Documentation (Property tax bill, redacted 1099 or W-2, Current Mortgage Statement, Utility bill dated within last three months - water/sewer/gas/electric/garbage, unexpired lease agreement)
    • Residency Questionnaire
    • Military Questionnaire
    • Auto Withdrawal Form (optional)
    • Copy of Birth Certificate
    • Immunizations

     

    Q - What paperwork do I need to do if we are new to the preschool program?

    A - A new student enrollment packet including:

    Q - When will I be contacted regarding a spot for my child?

    A - Families will be contacted on April 11th with either an offer of a spot or information regarding their place on the waitlist

     

    Glossary of Terms

    1/2 Day: 3 hours either in the AM or PM

    School Day: 6 hours between 9am - 3pm

    Full Time: up to 10 hours of care a day

    Age Eligibility: 3 by August 31st of current year

    In District: Within the boundaries of Shoreline School District (Shoreline & Lake Forest Park)

    Residence: the physical location of a child's principal abode (i.e. the home, house, apartment, etc.) where the student lives the majority of the time (at least four (4) nights per calendar week).

     


     

    Extended Care Registration

    Q - If I have a younger child who has been enrolled at the Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center, do they and their siblings have returning student priority in Extended Care?

    A - No, because the sites are usually fully enrolled, spots in extended care have to come available because children move on over the summer, typically to the 7th grade.  Please complete a "Request for Care" form to be part of our new student lottery on June 10th.

     

    Q - My child will be in kindergarten next year but we don't know what school they will be placed at, how should I fill out the "Request for Care" form?

    A - There is an option to answer that you don't know your child's placement and families will be given an opportunity at a later date to update their answers.  

     

    Q - What does "District Driven Changes" mean"?

    A - The district has placed your child in a school other than their neighborhood school for the 2019-2020 school year.

     

    Q - When will I be contacted regarding a spot for my child?

    A - Families will be contacted beginning on June 11th with either an offer of a spot or information regarding their place on the waitlist

     

    Q - My student is a kindergartener and has been placed at another district school for the current year.  Are we guaranteed a spot at our home school extended care program for the following school year?

    A - We strive to ensure that all children that are currently enrolled in our program can continue to recieve care for the following years.  Priority placement for open spots at home schools will be given to kindergarteners transitioning back to their home schools and are currently enrolled in extended care.  This placement will be done via a lottery if we have more kindergarteners than spts available to ensure it is equitable. 

     
     

     

    Glossary of Terms

    Before Care: care before school beginning at 6:30am until the start of class (varies by location)

    After Care: care after school from the dismissal school (varies by location) until 6:30pm; includes half days and early release Wednesdays

    Partial Release Wednesdays Only: Care from the dismissal of school on partial release Wednesday's until 6:30pm
