January 22, 2021 Project Updates
ALDERCREST ELEMENTARY
Gym (Bldg. 100), HEE Wing (Bldg. 200) Overbuild, CK8 Wing (Bldg. 300)
- Project closeout is underway.
- Additional blinds have been installed; others are still back-ordered for certain areas of the HEE wing.
Street Frontage Improvements
- Parking lot and driveway on the south side of 200th Street will also be repaved. Timeline for completion is weather-dependent.
- The City of Shoreline is installing the crosswalk safety signal.
EINSTEIN MIDDLE SCHOOL
- Final inspections are underway.
- Field and Hillwood Park tennis court/restroom restoration planning is underway.
- Contract work is complete – contractor is working on punchlist and final change order work.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Work on the track and field restoration will begin early this spring – the track is open for use by the public outside of school hours, but the south half of the field will remain closed to public use until the field is replaced.
- Working to finish commissioning lighting and heating controls through February.
- Work will continue through the month on the security and card key access system; in alignment with District COVID protocols, the front door is currently the only door available for staff access.
KELLOGG MIDDLE SCHOOL
- The contractor will work on commissioning of the building through January.
- The heating systems in the building are being balanced and set up for DDC controls.
- Field Turf is installing the field surface; they will stay on it as long as the weather is agreeable.
- Asphalt paving and patching is all but complete, including the tennis courts.
- The new staff parking lot will open after we can complete the asphalt paving.
- The contractor is completing the punchlist.
- The frontage street patching is complete.
- The 168th street improvements are complete and permanent signage is underway.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The landscape contractor will continue to work on plantings and irrigation.
- The contractor will continue to use the south entry as the construction entry.

- The contract has been issued for paving the parking lots, and the work will be complete as weather allows in the next few weeks.

- Parking lot work has been completed.
- Site fencing has been removed; contractor’s last trailers are being removed from site.
- Landscaping work is progressing and estimated to be complete by the end of the month.
- All outstanding work inside the building has been moved to night shift; Hoffman will be onsite during the day to oversee site work and landscaping, and to monitor the building to ensure workers are adhering to COVID protocols.

- Frontage improvements as required by the permit are substantially complete, with some striping and signage yet to be done.

- The flashing school zone beacon is scheduled to arrive in the next few weeks.
- Asphalt Paving
- The contract has been issued for paving the parking lots, and the work will be complete as weather allows in the next few weeks.
EINSTEIN MIDDLE SCHOOL
- Site fencing is coming down and the contractor’s trailers will be removed by the end of the month.
- All outstanding work inside the building has been moved to night shift; Hoffman will be onsite during the day to oversee site work and landscaping, and to monitor the building to ensure workers are adhering to COVID protocols.
- Per City of Shoreline direction, some sidewalk work will need to be redone on both 3rd and 195th; there will be one-way traffic only through the main driveway Monday-Thursday while the contractor replaces the driveway.
- Final work on some display cases will continue as final materials are delivered.
- Materials for some window sills were delayed – installation will be completed over the coming weeks as night work as this material becomes available.

- Concrete and asphalt along the north side of NE 200th is complete. Landscaping is in progress.
- The frontage work will be substantially complete by mid-next week.

- Street and sidewalk work will continue on 3rd Ave. NW – sidewalks on the east side of the street will remain closed as the contractor replaces the sidewalks, storm drains, and asphalt pavement along the school frontage.

KELLOGG MIDDLE SCHOOL
- This week’s weather did not affect the Kellogg interior construction much; it did slow down exterior work – siding, site, and roofing, along with some deliveries of material.
- The drywall contractor is working on the administration and the second-floor aux gym. They will be moving into the instructional section of the main floor next.
- The painters are moving right behind the drywallers.
- The entry store fronts and vestibules are being installed now.
- The concrete seat and locker benches are being formed and will be poured next week.
- Concrete floor polishing will keep moving into areas as they become available.
- The interior framers are moving thru the east side of the second floor and the north side of the first.
- Window frames are on site and being installed.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The interior framers will be done framing all of the walls by the second week of February.
- The contractor will be working closely with City Light to complete the permanent power install process and pathway.
- PSE is scheduling permanent service.

- The civil contractor will finish up the electrical crossing work on 25th today – they will work on the water line crossing next week.
- The roofing contractor will continue to move around the top end of the building to complete the dry in process.
- The contractor is closing in the next section of the building to begin heating and prep for the drywall team.
- Some of the mechanical roof curbing was delivered and set this week, more to come in the next few weeks.
LOOKING AHEAD
- We will receive the first order of window frames the week of December 12th.
- The 25th street sidewalk will be replaced the week of December 18th.

- Substantial completion was established on 11/15/19.
