Each head coach creates a varsity lettering policy for their sport and make that information available to the athletes. The WIAA does not play a role in setting these standards so it's possible to see varying qualifications across the state.

As a general rule for the Shorecrest Athletic Program, athletes who meet the performance benchmarks to earn a varsity letter must also complete the season in good standing (as determined by the coaching staff). If a coach finds that an athlete didn't do so, then a varsity letter may be denied.
