  • Amanda Lee, Kiana Lino, Sydney VanNess - Girls Basketball

Posted by Alan Bruns on 1/21/2020

This month we highlight the performances 3 members of our 10-1 girls basketball team -- who's currently ranked #6 in the state.

AMANDA LEE started January strong and has been putting up better numbers every game. So far this month she has led the team in scoring at 14.7 points/game with 3 steals per game as well. In a 65-45 victory over Mercer Island (on her birthday no less) she led the team with 21 points.

KIANA LINO remained strong in the middle averaging 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in her past two games. For the season she's averaging almost 10 points and 9 rebounds per game.

SYDNEY VANNESS is having another strong all-around year, averaging 10.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1.7 assists per game. She's doing it all! On top of that, she's shooting 33% from the 3-point line and 90% at the free throw stripe.

Congrats to these girls and the rest of our top-notch girls program. Upcoming games include 1/21 vs. Mountlake Terrace at 7:15 and this Saturday at Shorewood at 5:00, as part of the day-long Hoopapalooza.

  • Andrew Harness - Swimming

Posted by Alan Bruns on 1/19/2020

This month has been a record-setting one for our Boys Swim program. Last weekend at the Kentridge Invite, Andrew Harness -- a junior -- was part of a school record-setting relay performance in the Medley where the team broke a record that had stood for 22 years!

In addition, Andrew qualified for State in two individual events, which included a school-record time in the 100 Breaststroke -- also a record that was last set 22 years ago.

Come cheer on our swim team at one of their remaining home meets: 1/21 vs Kamiak, 1/30 vs. Shorewood, and 2/4 vs. Cascade.

Winning this award moves her along to the state level round of consideration where she'll be in the runing for a scholarship. This award focuses on "community-minded athletes who change the game both on and off the field."

  • Ben Silber and Zaid Khan - WESCO champs - Tennis

Posted by Alan Bruns on 11/11/2019

    Ben and Zaid

Coach Mann, Ben, Zaid, Assistant Coach McDowell

Ben Silber and Zaid Khan had another stellar outing at the WESCO 3A District Tournament at Arlington High School on October 29th and October 30th.  In the finals, the Shorecrest duo faced Shintaro Wilcox and Preston Pierce from Stanwood.  The players from Stanwood were the most athletic and scrappy players that Shorecrest has faced this year.  The Stanwood players were aggressive net players who put balls away at the net and tracked down ball after ball that looked like winning shots for Shorecrest.  The nerves got to the Shorecrest players in the beginning of the set and they found themselves quickly down 1-5, but luckily they found their rhythm in the next game and broke Stanwood’s serve to bring the set score to 2-5.  Both Ben and Zaid relaxed and kept the streak going to win six games in a row to take the first set 7-5.  Shorecrest carried that momentum into the second set dominating their opponents 6-1 with passing shots and put away volleys.

The Shorecrest duo qualified for the State Tournament at Kamiakin High School, but will have a long wait since the tournament doesn’t start until May 22nd.

  • Eladio Fountain - Football

The football team is off to a 5-1 start (3-1 in league) with a great shot to host a 1st-round playoff game in early November. This is thanks in part to the strong performance and leadership from our quaterback, Eladio Fountain, one of our few 3-sport athletes. On the season he has:

    8 TD’s rushing
