I feel fortunate to be a part of our incredibly supportive Parkwood community at the school psychologist. School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support students' ability to learn and teachers' ability to teach. I apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior, to help our children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. I consistently partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
In my position, I often work with classroom teachers, special education teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, counselors, and private counselors and medical professionals to collaborate to provide appropriate services.
My name is Debbie Black. I grew up in NY. I received my undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, my Masters degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison and my Ed. S degree from Seattle University. I moved to Seattle with my two sons in 1992 and have worked in Shoreline ever since. I enjoy traveling, spending time outdoors, gardening and knitting.
