General Music

Welcome to general music class! It’s my pleasure to provide a balanced, varied music curriculum where students will be challenged to participate in their own musical growth. Music class is full of enjoyable experiences in singing, games, movement, listening, rhythms, and playing instruments. All of our Parkwood Panthers will build upon their skills in theory, harmony, form, knowledge of musical history, cultures and style. Expressing feelings musically through exploring, improvising, and creating is highly encouraged!

My name is Nick Wade and I’m so excited to be the orchestra teacher at Parkwood! I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago so I’m a huge Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks fan. When I was in fifth grade, I also got to tryout instruments and fell in love with playing the cello. Since then I went to school at Millikin University, located in central Illinois, where I studied all of the string instruments and played in orchestras and string quartets on each of them! In January of 2016 I was offered an amazing opportunity to teach in Shoreline, so I packed up all of my things and moved out west to Seattle to come teach all the amazing students in Shoreline. Currently I have the privilege of working at four other schools in addition to Parkwood (Meridian Park, Syre, Highland Terrace, and Briarcrest).

If you ever want to stop by and discuss new songs to play, or really cool string youtube videos you’ve found you’re always welcome. And of course, I’d always love to discuss my other hobbies if you’d want: like scuba diving, finding new shows on Netflix, and reading as many books as I can fit into my schedule.

I look so forward to seeing you in orchestra class!
  • Instrumental Music - Band

My name is Nick Novy and it is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new band teacher at Parkwood this year! I grew up locally in Marysville and I started my music journey back in 6th grade, where I fell in love with the flute. I recently graduated from Central Washington University in Music Education, Flute Performance, and a minor in Jazz. I also, like Mr. Wade, have the wonderful opportunity to work at four other schools: Meridian Park, Highland Terrace, Syre, and Briarcrest.

As I am new here and work at five schools, please encourage your students to come up and say hi to me! I would love to talk about whatever they’re interested in to get to know them better. I always love to talk about new technology (especially Apple), reading, cooking, or playing music!

I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you more!
