O.W.L. BINDERS - Organized While Learning
Students should be bringing their O.W.L. binder to school each day and home each day. They should keep their work in their binder until it is time to turn it in at school. Inside there are four pockets for the following items:
- Parent Communication
- Math Homework
- Spelling Packet
- Reading Log
PARENT COMMUNICATION: Students may bring home parent notices from the office or me in this pocket if they did not make it into the Take Home Tuesday Folder. You may also send me or the office any forms, permission slips, etc. in this pocket for your child to deliver to school.
MATH HOMEWORK: Third graders will have daily math homework throughout the week. It should be completed and returned the following day.
SPELLING PACKET HOMEWORK: Spelling packet homework is given on Mondays to be worked on a bit each night and then turned in on Fridays. For short school weeks, packets will be adjusted, given out on the first day of the week, and due on the last day of the week.
READING LOG HOMEWORK: Students should be reading at home each day for 20 minutes or more and keeping track of this on their green reading log. Please initial their entries. It is a good idea to have your child's reading log in a visible location to help remind your child to read and make it easy to record it. New reading logs are given on Fridays and they are due the next Friday. If Friday is a no school day, then the reading log will be due Thursday.
Please make a habit of checking your child’s O.W.L. binder often to help your child learn this new homework routine.
