First Year Info

  • This page should answer many questions that I often get from Swimmers/Divers new to the team (page in progress)

Is this a cut sport?     No,  sometimes we have to stop letting people join late because we are full, but we do not hold "tryouts"

Can I join even if I have not swam competitively before?.   Yes,  this is common

What do I need to do before a can start?  Fill out athletic packet with SC, have a sports physical on file with the school, good for 2 years, buy ASB card, pay SC sport fee,

Who do I turn paperwork into?  Mr. Bruns is our Athletic Director, or the SC office.  Fees are paid to Ms. Denney

What do I need to bring to practice?  A competitive style swim suit,  and competitive Goggles,  Water bottle.

Where do I buy suit and googles?  Sylvia's on Ballanger way, or online, I like swim suit outlet.com

Can I swim and dive?  Yes, but it becomes a bigger commitment, Dive practice is after swim practice, so your practice would go from 3-6pm everyday.

Can I just Dive?  Yes many just choose to focus on the Dive event

When are meets?  Usually Tuesday and or Thursdays right after school,  many away meets require early dismissal from school

Is there a Bus for practice?  There is a bus that takes kids to practice at Shoreline pool, but need your own way home at 5pm

Is there a bus for meets? Same bus for home meets,   Away meets depend on where the meet is, close meets have a one-way ride, meets that are further away have a round trip bus ride.

Can I skip practice to go to my club practice?  No, a WIAA rule prevents this, you must attend school practices.

What do I do if I have to miss a practice?  Contact me via email or text and get it excused by me.  If it is the practice before a meet, you will not participate in the meet.
