Calling all Seniors! We want YOU to sign up for a senior experience interview over Zoom or socially-distanced in person. Think of it as an archive, documenting the lives of the class of '21 amidst a global pandemic. We are living in a historical time, so we encourage you to share your experience with the SC community. Sign up from the @HyphyHighlanders bio on Instagram, or scan this QR code.

Please join us for our new Asian Pacific Islander Culture Club meeting 1/19 at lunch! All are welcome to join us using Ms. Fresco's zoom link. Bring your favorite culture inspired snack to "share". See you there!!

Hey Scots! We are almost at the end of the first half of the year. Time to switch classes! This means that Shorecrest will be hosting learning material return days from the current term on January 25-27. And to prepare for classes for the second half of the year, Shorecrest will host distribution days on February 9 and 10. More details coming soon. Please mark your calendars and do everything possible to participate as needed.

The Chess Club continues to be a force to be reckoned with in the WESCO conference. Tough matches against Edmonds-Woodway and Henry Jackson High Schools have left us in third place in the conference but we still are surprising other teams. Next week will be the last dual meet (Archbishop Murphy HS) and then on to the conference tournament. We have seven players that should be recognized for their efforts as well as victories:

AJ Salo, Andy Hoang, Hieu Tran, Justin Pangukir, James Lewis, Haneen Faraj, Jessie Gigrich

We welcome chess players anytime. You don’t have to wait till next year to join in - do it now! For info and links, contact Steve Hirsch at steve.hirsch@shorelineschools.org.

The Shorecrest Hip Hop Team will be having a fundraiser at the Lake City Chipotle on Sunday, January 17 from 4 pm - 8 pm! Come support your favorite dance team! Stop by the store or order online! Use the unique code: KQJTAJR. Click here for more information

There is a Student Council Meeting on Thursday, January 21. All students are invited to attend (more information in Highlander Home on how to log in). Student Council has been doing excellent work on behalf of students that has led to updates to how absences are communicated, a standardization on assignment deadlines, and updates to the schoolwide late work policy.

Now - more than ever - seniors are considering OFFICIAL Gap Year options for their post-Shorecrest plans. Some Gap Year programs are local; others are half-way around the world. And it's important to know that some Gap Year programs can pay you and others want you to pay THEM. You can learn more about a variety of these by signing up for the virtual Pacific Northwest Gap Year Fair. It's Thursday, February 18 on EventBrite - but you will want to sign up for free ASAP. Details can be found in your Canvas announcements. Act now to reserve your spot. If you have questions, reach out to Ms. Monson in the College & Career Center.

On Friday, January 22, students will participate in our annual All School Art Project, brought to you by Ms. King and the SC Art Club. We are very excited to work on this as a community and the only supplies needed are a few sheets of white paper. Stay tuned for more information and the big reveal in Highlander Home on Friday.

2021 Shorecrest Senior Spree! There are many ways to support this great graduation night out for our seniors. Please read over the fundraisers and select a way to help our senior event:

    • Purchase a ticket. Tickets are $145 and are totally refundable if COVID cancels the event. See Shorecrest PTSA's website and this link to sign up.

    • Get Flocked! Send a holiday flock of flamingos to your neighbors, family, teachers, boss or friends. We have a seasonal Santa and holiday flock or our Shorecrest Special Forces unit in green and yellow. All proceeds go to Senior Spree. Link here.
    • Feed your family and support a locally owned Shorecrest family restaurant. On Friday, January 29 we will receive the dinner proceeds from Lake Forest Park Bar and Grill. Hot, ready to serve meal orders will be taken online and in person. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for the specialty dinner menu!

Thank you, and your contributions will make this a senior night to remember!
