Hello, my name is Kim Gillingham. Echo Lake is where I started teaching in 2000 and I love this school community! I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades at Echo Lake with 3rd grade being my home for the past 10 years. 3rd grade is such a fun age and I love it!
I grew up in Port Angeles, Washington on the beautiful Olympic Peninsula. Growing up, my parents instilled in me a love of learning and a love of the outdoors. The University of Washington drew me to Seattle where I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology and met my husband, Matt. I later earned my Masters in Teaching from City University.
Outside of school, you'll find me with family and friends. My husband, Matt and my two boys, Luke (11th grade) and Cole (9th grade) are very important to me. With two teenage sons, I am often shuttling them to their many sports activities and cheering from the sidelines. I love hiking, camping, waterskiing, snowshoeing, snow skiing, and biking. My family shares my love of the outdoors too. I also love escaping into a good book, taking photos, making cards with friends, gardening, and yoga.
Bringing new experiences to my boys and sharing in their learning are my most prized moments. I hope I can bring out your child’s enthusiasm for learning this year too.
