Return Our Books On Time!!!
Meet the Highland Terrace Library Team
Alicia Wilson: Librarian
For 15 years I have had the joy of teaching Kindergarten through ninth grade students. It has been really fun and a privilege to work as a Library Media Specialist for elementary students in the past six years. I have a love for reading and learning that I am excited to share with our students.
Growing up in Texas, there were two passions that I had: football and reading! At a very young age I discovered the magic and whimsy books held and was reading all the time. (It’s no surprise that one of my favorite genres is sports fiction.) I had (and still do have) the habit of discovering authors that I love and then set out to read everything he or she has published.
Reading is one of life's most valuable gifts. As a teacher librarian, I strive to make reading enjoyable, resourceful and fun! I also strive to team with our classroom teachers by supporting their instruction to students with library and resource skills.
My husband and I are almost empty nesters of a blended family of 5 kids. While we are trying to figure out this new stage in our lives, we’ve taken to going to the gym as well as discovering incredible adventures on road trips around the country, and watching our favorite college (Huskies and Longhorns) and professional (Seahawks) football teams.
Heidi Larsen: Library Technician
I grew up in Seattle and am an alumni of University of Washington ~ Go Huskies!. My husband, Terry, and I have two children~ Elsa (5th grade) and Isak (kindergarten) both at Highland Terrace. Growing up, I was an avid reader and made a hobby of writing and creating my own books. I have been actively involved here at Highland Terrace for the last 5 years in both a parent role and filling various substitute positions around the school over the last 2 years. It's been such a pleasure getting to know the students, parents and staff and I am so excited for my new role as the Library Tech. I have such passion for working with children and watching their learning and growth, and am a firm believer that reading can change and shape a child's life whether they are a strong reader or just learning. I'm so excited to have the opportunity to be in the library with Mrs. Wilson and to work together to help kids find the magic and joy in books and open their minds to the adventures of reading.
I keep very active with my family when I'm not at school. We love being outdoors and going camping, hiking and kayaking. I enjoy doing crafts and I'm known for taking lots of pictures of family and friends and, of course, my kids! I am a very proud Norwegian and love showing my children the history and culture of such an amazing country when we visit my sister and the rest of my family in Norway. We love to travel and spend time at the ocean, play in the sun in Lake Chelan, but my favorite place of all to go is Disneyland!
