Problem Solving Wheel
Staff schoolwide use this wheel to help guide students towards independence and pro-social problem solving.
Parents receive the wheel too, in the packets they receive at the beginning of the year, so they can use it at home.
When students come to staff with a small problem, we can point them to the wheel, so they can see if there is an appropriate response on it.
The wheel is not intended to help with big problems. It is to equip students with everyday conflicts, so that they can gain competency in dealing with problems with friends, responding to unkind words, and navigating disputes on the playground.
There is a Problem-Solving Wheel up in every classroom, and we also have a big one up on the playground. It is made of laminated canvas to help it survive the Northwest rain.
