Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Freeman encourages students to love books, libraries, and technology. Reading is a lifelong skill, whether we are reading for enjoyment, following directions, reading dialogue in video games, or looking up information. "Reading is not optional," said author Walter Dean Myers.
Ms. Freeman has been a reading specialist and taught 5th and 6th grade in Wenatchee and Seattle. She also lived in Sendai, Japan, teaching English to children and adults. She is a proud graduate of Lake Forest Park, Kellogg and Shorecrest. She lives in Shoreline with her husband and son, who attends Shoreline schools. She loves to read (of course!), travel, and try every kind of crafting and art she can.
Ms. Freeman has been at Ridgecrest since 2002, when she received her master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Washington. She also attended the University of Southern California (as a member of the Trojan Marching Band - Fight On!) and Central Washington University. She earned her National Board Certification in Library Media in 2009.
