    • CHILD CARE FOR SPRING BREAK (4/22-4/26)

      Schools are closed April 22-26 for Spring Break. The Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center will be open to care for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Care will be provided for preschool children at The Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center, care will be provided for grades K through 6 at Meridian Park Elementary.

       

      In order to properly staff this day and provide for student safety, the following policy is in effect: No registrations will be accepted after March 29. You may register through the deadline of March 29, providing space is available. Registration forms can be found in our HT office.

    ***ATTENTION 6TH GRADE PARENTS: PAYMENT FOR CAMP ORKILA WAS DUE LAST WEEK!***

    The 1st payment for Camp Orkila was due last Friday. BRIGHT ORANGE half sheet notices were sent home with every student. The amount due is $140.00 (minus Move-A-Thon and Raffle Ticket Sales).

    Please make checks payable to HT. The last payment is due April 19. You are welcome to pay the full balance at this time. If you are requesting a partial scholarship, please contact Family Advocate, Sherri Dobb at 206-393-4346.

    Highly Capable Open House at Meridian Park

    See the HiCap Program and meet the staff on Thursday, April 11, from 2-3 PM.  Parents and students are invited and there is no need to sign up.  Enter MP through the main entrance under the clock.  There is an informal tour, Q&A, and a meet and greet of staff and parents.  The purpose is to help families decide about next year.  We hope to see you!

    Introducing the New Highland Terrace Elementary Dean:  We are excited to announce Wayne Hoskins has accepted the Highland Terrace Dean position.  Mr. Hoskins, is currently one of our sixth grade teachers.  Mr. Hoskins brings to our community a range of experiences with working with diverse students and families.  He has a passion for creating inclusive environments, supporting students through a positive behavior approach, and developing students as leaders across grade levels.  We are very excited to have Mr. Hoskins expand his work with students, families, and staff across our community.  

     

    Mr. Hoskins will remain teaching 6th grade until we are able to find a replacement for his  teaching position. We extend our congratulations to Wayne and welcome him into this new role.

    Congratulations HT Teachers and PTA Leaders!

    Educators of the Year:

    The Golden Apple/Outstanding Educator award recognizes a teacher, assistant, custodian, bus driver or administrator who has contributed their time and talents to providing educational opportunities for students beyond the normal scope of their jobs. This year the teachers receiving this honor are Mrs. Avery Slinning (Third Grade) and Mrs. Donna Hoffman (Learning Assistance Program).

    Volunteers of the Year:

    The Golden Acorn/Outstanding Volunteer award recognizes a volunteer who has contributed to our children and the community in an exceptional way. A Golden Acorn Award is very special and is given for continued and dedicated service. This year the volunteers receiving this honor are Nicolle Rutherford and Becky Logan.
