Subbing for the 2020-21 School Year
On Monday August 3, 2020 the Shoreline Public Schools board of directors voted to approve the recommendation to begin the school year in a 100% Remote Continuous Learning 2.0 model due to the current local impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the 2020-2021 school year will begin online on September 2 for grades 1-12 and special education preschool and September 8 for kindergarten.
We anticipate that, even in the context of a Remote model, the district will continue to have a need for certificated and classified substitute support. In addition, while the district is opening remotely, we are planning for the potential that we may move to a Hybrid model (i.e. a combination of limited On-Site and continuing Remote learning) at some point during the school year.
The Shoreline School District is currently accepting certificate and classified substitute applications. Due to the current pandemic our usual substitute process has been amended to meet the needs State health guidelines and our district’s academic models. In doing so, we will be assigning a limited number of certificated and classified substitutes to each school/site. While all building assignments are presently filled, we anticipate the need for some additional substitute workforce as we progress into the school year. We welcome your application, and will contact you as soon as we have need for additional active substitute workforce.
The Substitute Office is open every school day
6:30am - 3:00pm
Thank you for your interest! We invite applicants to apply for substitute positions along with permanent positions. Signing up as a substitute doesn’t hurt your chances of being offered a permanent job with the District. Instead, substitutes have the opportunity of “on the job training” while working in a variety of interesting positions and visiting a number of locations throughout the District. It has been found that experience as a substitute often prepares an individual for permanent placement.
