Here are some resources that may make your time at home pass a little faster.
- Shoreline Students have access to many resoures through their Class Link accounts which include access to online KCLS resources.
- PebbleGo is a wonderful resource available through Class Link or directly at this web address: https://pebblego.com/. Please email me for log-in information.
- Here is a list of Education Companies that are offering free subscriptions during school closings. I have neither curated nor vetted this list.

I hope that you all find wonderful ways to pass your time. I recommend reading, exercising, and creating every day.Looking forward to seeing you April 27.
- So many authors and illustrators are offering online events.
Echo Lake’s Summer Library was a great success. 83 students made 261 visits to the library and checked out over 750 books! Thank you Ms. Cruz for keeping our library open over the summer.
Echo Lake has a new Librarian. Jean Bolivar is excited to meet all of the students at Echo Lake. Her favorite childhood book is Harold and The Purple Crayon, but she has lots of favorites. Pete the Cat and Skippyjon Jones are her favorite funny characters. She is drawn to books that make her cry. The best book she read last year was Ghost by Jason Reynolds. In fact she read the whole Track series.
Ms. Bolivar would love some help in the library. Please let you child’s teacher know if you’re interested in volunteering, or contact her directly.
Author Patrick Carmen to Visit Echo Lake on March 21
If you want a Towervale book order form, click here.
Well know local author, Patrick Carmen will meet with grade 2-6 at an assembly in the EL gym at 1:30 pm on Thursday, March 21. Mr Carmen has written many different children's books, including 39 Clues, and Atherton, Into the Land of Elyon. He's most famous for his innovative and spooky Skeleton Creek series. This year Mr. Carmen will introduce his latest book called Towervale. This fantasy book pushes the boundries of children's books by interconnecting a free online game with the Towervale book. Students may pre-order the books as soon as they arrive, perhaps during conference week. Pricing with tax will be about $16.50. NO student is required to purchase a book.
But, the Towervale book will not be available online or through any bookstore. I will have copies for purchase as soon as they arrive, and for two weeks after the assembly. Order forms will go home soon.
Patrick Carmen is a former teacher and quite entertaining. All family and community members are welcome to join us for the 45 minute assembly. If you want more information on Patrick Carmen and Towervale, go to PatrickCarmen.com or Towervale.com.

What a Book Fair!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered or attended this year's Scholastic Book Fair. The grand totals are still being calculated. But our amazing and generous PTA donated $4,470.21 for students to purchase at least one book for free. For years students were disappointed when their class came to the book fair. They would say, "But I don't have any money." This year I could say, "Sure you do. Here's $10. Go find a book you want." It was magical! We are so blessed to have a PTA and community that supports reading for every child. Many, many thanks to everyone who donated your time and money to make this program happen!
Book Fair Almost Here!
Online Book Fair shopping is open. We still need volunteers. View this year's Book Fair Home Page here.

See You at the Book Fair
Dennis Day, EL librarian
All kindergarten students are now checking out books. Each week your child should have a new library book to share if they have returned the previous week's book and bag. If a student fails to return her/his book and/or bag, he/she will not be able to check out. Echo Lake's checkout cycle is one week.
Kindergarten students check out one book per week. All students have a plastic bag with their name and barcode. We will use the plastic bags all year. The bag keeps the books safe, and the barcode is used at check out. It's important to build a habit of check out, read (or be read to), return book and bag, and repeat. If your bag or book are lost, please contact the EL librarian, Dennis Day, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Ms Thompson's class comes to the library at 1:15-2:00 on Mondays. Mr. Feltis's class is at the same time on Tuesdays. All family members are welcome to join the class at any time. If you'd to assist in the library as the check out person on a regular schedule, contact Mr. Day. It's easy, fun and your child will love it!
Author Visit Thursday, Oct. 19
Author Robert Hoge will make a visit to the Echo Lake library on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 11:00 am to12:00 pm in the Echo Lake library. Sorry Mr. Rand's class will miss the event due to a pre-arranged field trip. Third Place Books is sponsoring the event and will sell paperback copies of Robert Hoge's book. The price is $9.89 with sales tax included. If you or your child would like a copy of the book, click here for the order form. Third Place books accepts checks and cash.
