EDUCATION FUNDING FORUM
Our legislators can do a better job of communicating the importance of full funding if they have YOUR STORIES. Does a counselor in every building make a difference to your kids? How about a librarian or a well-stocked library? How about a nurse? How does class size affect your student? Personal stories will go a long way; help provide our legislators with an arsenal that illustrates the impact that all of our staff positions and programs have on your family.
A reminder that we have it good in Shoreline - explain how your family benefits from our "Shoreline model" and how much more difficult it would be elsewhere (or what even Shoreline is lacking).
Please join us for a conversation with our legislators on March 11th from 9:30 to 11:30 am. This event is open to all educators, school leaders, school board members, students, and parents. We will speak with our legislators about the need for full funding.
Shoreline Conference Center--Shoreline Room
(18561 1st Ave. NE, Shoreline 98155 )
Legislators from the 21st and 32nd Legislative Districts
Sponsored by Edmonds Education Association and Shoreline Education Association
The State Legislature will be shaping compensation and education funding for decades to come. In October, the State Supreme Court ordered the Legislature to finally fully fund our schools, including compensation, during the current session, with full funding to start September 1, 2018. The state budget the legislature passes this session will be the "McCleary Budget," the framework for future education budgets for the foreseeable future. Don't miss this chance to share your thoughts and concerns directly with our legislators!

GOODWILL DROP-OFF DONATION DRIVE MARCH 11
Save up all the stuff you are planning to take to Goodwill until Saturday, March 11th! The Shorewood Marching Band is hosting a Goodwill Drop Off fundraiser between 10-2, Saturday, March 11th to raise funds for uniforms and instruments. They would love to accept all your usual excess household items, clothing, small furniture ONLY (maximum size of an end table), electronics and dead computers to recycle. Simply bring your load to the Shorewood school parking lot and volunteers will be on hand to unload your items. For every truck we fill with old items, Goodwill will make a significant donation to the Shorewood Band. Please ask your friends and neighbors to support us!
STATE ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE - MARK YOUR CALENDAR!
Syre students in grades 3-6 will be taking the Washington State Smarter Balance Assessments between May 9 and June 1. Please avoid making appointments for your student or scheduling family travel during this time.
BABY ITEMS NEEDED!
Hello Syre Families! We have a mom expecting a little boy in April. The family is currently without most of the necessary items to help with his care. If you have any extra baby items at home you no longer need I am happy to collect them and to pass them on to this family.
Thank you in advance for your support and assistance!!!
