Welcome to the Structured Autism Support Library (SAS)

The SAS library is made up of many types of materials, which are categorized in the menu, in what is felt to be their primary area of use.

Our information center is made up of texts relating to autism, Asperger's, behavior, social skills and communication, as well as many references for work systems and file folder activities that have been pre-read and highlighted for easy reference. The Boardmaker software is also avaible, and it includes the add-ons for sentence-making and sign language.

We not only have blocks, beads, sets of numbers, popsicle sticks, clothes pins, and containers with and without lids, but boxes, felt items, wooden items, file folders, and hundreds of pictures both laminated and non-laminated also seperated into catagories (big cats, birds, bears, small mammals, fish, bugs and many more.) We have photocopies of Signing Exact English and the Picture Plus Dictionary. Any of these supplies may be used by teachers to make work systems, and those may be kept by those that make them.

Any pre-made and catalogued materials belong to the SAS library, and are to be returned no later than the end of the school year. If you see something that is close to, but not quite what you need, you may order specific items to be made up. Be aware that the materials listed on this site are to be checked out only and must be returned to the library. Also be aware that care must be taken with all materials, as not returning or damaging them requires that they be duplicated. Those materials that require repairs or replacement will have to be taken out of the system until said adjustments can take place.

The primary purpose of this library is to provide a wide and ongoing selection of instructional materials. There are also some significant secondary benefits. A teacher can keep a listing of which work systems a student has used. This list may be passed on to a new teacher so that they will have a specific starting point to build on.

We would like the SAS library kept in mind if you have any materials and/or work systems that you are not currently using. By returning or donating them to the library, they can be made available to other teachers; it makes more room in your classroom and we keep them repaired. Please contact Michelle Ellison or Mary Walters if you have items that you would be willing to add to the library.

The ordering process is simple. Just contact Michelle Ellison or Mary Walters with the catalogue number and approximate length of check-out, and it will be mailed via the district. After-school, personal appointments with either Michelle or Mary may be scheduled to view the library.

Enjoy, make use of, and please give us your suggestions or comments regarding this resource.

Several years have been spent in the development of this resource for the staff of Shoreline School District. There have been numerous people who have contributed to this project and they ALL deserve a heartfelt appreciation.

Amy Vujovich who continued her support through the toughest of times.
Michelle Ellison for her truly tireless efforts in developing the concept into hard fact. Without her contributions this project would still be in its infancy!
Jim Golubich whose patience and technical expertise gave this project the format needed for presentation.
Dusty Ellison for putting it ALL into the ‘system’.
Chessna Ellison for her ongoing technical and moral support to Michelle.
Brenda Smither for her stead fast support in the very early development of this concept.
