Criteria for Reentry into the Highly Capable Program

When a parent voluntarily removes his/her child from the HC program, then requests reentry later, the following guidelines will apply:

1. There will be no reentry within the same academic year.
2. Reentry can only occur once during a student's k-6 academic career.
3. If/when a parent requests reentry to the program, an SST will be convened. Those present at the SST will determine appropriate placement for the student. The SST will consist of HC teacher(s), building principal, HC program manager, and school psychologist (when possible and/or necessary).
4. If a student is on probation (or pre-probation) at the time that she/he leaves the program, she/he will be on probation upon return to the program.
