Briarcrest teacher honored by Office Max
Briarcrest Elementary School third/fourth grade teacher Suzanne Norring is among more than 1,000 educators across the country to be recognized as part of the OfficeMax “A Day Made Better” nationwide surprise events on Oct. 6.
Norring was nominated by her school and selected for a surprise visit from Aurora Village OfficeMax staff members Scott Pounds, Robert Goettle and Joanne Lee. Each donation, valued at $1,000, includes a digital camera, one leather swivel chair and a large box containing classroom supplies. To identify the classroom supplies most needed by teachers, OfficeMax conducted research, surveying teachers and school administration on their greatest classroom needs.
The name, “A Day Made Better,” is derived from the concept that OfficeMax can make at least one day better for educators, providing teachers with essential classroom supplies. “A Day Made Better” was first conducted in October 2007, which emphasized community action, contributing to a substantial increase in donations to Adopt-A-Classroom, funding more than 10,000 classrooms nationwide.
OfficeMax partners with Adopt-A-Classroom (www.adoptaclassroom.org) to identify schools and teachers across the country for recognition of their dedication and innovative approaches to education on this one very special day. Schools were asked to nominate a teacher for his/her innovative approach to teaching, and dedication and passion for education.
