District Advisory Committee for Program and Operations

A District Advisory Committee for Program & Operations was formed to make recommendations to the School Board for implementation in the 2007-08 school year. The three specific topics that will be addressed by this committee are:

  1. middle school models (6/7/8 vs 7/8);
  2. 7-period vs 6-period day in the middle school; and
  3. program and school consolidations and/or closures.

The District Advisory Committee for Program & Operations is intended to be a broad-based group of community and staff members that will be asked to reflect on current information such as enrollment projections, facility analysis, current overhead costs, etc. It will also be asked to identify other needed information required for thoughtful decision-making. Ultimately, the Committee will be asked to make recommendations to the School Board based upon the analysis of the information available, the problem-solving discussions at meetings and the collective wisdom of the group. The Committee will be asked to specifically identify any school and/or program consolidations or closures they recommend. Future committee work with respect to possible boundary changes and transportation issues will need to begin once the Committee has made its recommendations to the Board.
