Brain Research and Brain-Compatible Instruction

  • 12 Design Principles Based on Brain-based Learning Research – nice, concise discussion of major implications for instruction based on current brain research; a briefer, similar discussion is here
  • Brain Plasticity: What Is It? – though from a site called "Neuroscience for Kids", this is a quite good treatment of the concept of plasticity
  • The Neuron – a quick presentation of how neurons function in the brain
  • The Secret Life of the Brain – multimedia highlights from a PBS video series dealing with changes in the brain at various stages of a life (infancy, child, teen, adult, aging)
