What is the Personal Professional Growth Cycle?

The Personal/Professional Growth program (also known as PPG) is an alternate voluntary program to the standard yearly evaluation process. It enables participants to have the opportunity to experiment, research, or explore new directions in a supportive environment where risk-taking and collaborative interaction are encouraged. The Personal Professional Growth Plan that you design and any materials/information resulting from the Plan shall not be retained in the employee’s personnel file or used in any evaluation.

Who Can Participate?

  • Experienced teachers
  • Experienced teachers NEW to Shoreline after two years of ?Satisfactory? evaluations on the Performance Cycle (standard)
  • NEW teachers after four years of ?Satisfactory? evaluations on the Performance Cycle (standard)
  • For eligible employees, the Personal Professional Growth program is available for up to three (3) years out of every four (4) years. ON THE FOURTH YEAR OF THE CYCLE, THE EMPLOYEE MUST RETURN TO THE PERFORMANCE CYCLE FOR ONE YEAR.
  • The number of employees who may choose to go on the Personal Professional Growth Cycle is limited to 1/3 of the certificated staff at each building each year

What Training Is Available?

  • Goal Development Workshop - this workshop is held prior to starting the cycle in September. Participants who attend the workshop are compensated at the cert. hourly rate. The training is for all participants; however it is REQUIRED of those who have never particpated in the Personal Profdessional Growth Cycle before.
  • Goal Evaluation Strategies Workshop - this workshop is held between January and February of the second year in the cylce. Participants who attend the workshop are compensated at the cert. hourly rate. The training is for all participants; however it is REQUIRED of those who have never particpated in the Personal Profdessional Growth Cycle before.

What Are The Requirements?

  • Design a Personal Professional Growth Plan (Form E)
  • No later than October 10th of the first year, the employee and principal/superviosr will meet to discuss the initial Personal Professional Growth Plan
  • Prior to March 1st of each year, the employee will provide the principal/supervisor with information about progress made toward achieving the established Plan - this will be informational, not evaluative
  • By June 1st of the second year, the employee will self-evaluate the Personal Professional Growth Plan and provide the principal/supervisor with information about progress made towards attainment of the plan goals
