SCIENTIFIC METHOD ALL 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1 Inspiration template for the Scientific Method This is one of the templates included with Inspiration. To use it, go to the File menu in Inspiration and select "Template..." In the dialogue box that opens choose Science. Scroll to Scientific Method and click the Open button. To delete the instruction box, click on it once and press the delete button on the keyboard.

Explore Learning Gizmos Explore Learning has Gizmos that focus on the Scientific Method. The Germination one is especially good.  Use the Exploration Guide as a whole group assignment then later allow for independent work.  It does a really good job of discussing vocabulary relative to the scientific method and taking them step by step through the idea of only changing 1 variable.

Catapult Challenge Simulator (Note: FIREFOX Browser ONLY) This interactive 3D simulation allows students to work on the development of a virtual catapult. By adjusting many variables the students must create a catapult that is adjusted for distance, height, and strength. Students are given a budget of $1000 with which to complete the project. When the student is finished they are given their results and the chance to try again.

Floating Log Gizmo- For extended you you will need to have students sign in. Manipulate the length, radius and mass of a log floating in a pond (where the density of pond can be adjusted). Add additional blocks of mass to the log, and study the log as it sinks and floats under different conditions.
